This had happened to me before but I remembered a few hours later to take the meat out of the car. To get rid of the rotten meat smell in a car will take a few steps but your car will smell as good as it was before and maybe even better. Rotten meat will leave a stain on the car carpet so you will need to follow the cleaning method below carefully to get the best results.

Different Types of meat

Tools You Will Need:

  • Scrub Brush
  • Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Essential Oil

Wet Cleaning Method To Remove Rotten Meat Smell In Car:

1. Add Odor Absorbent Powder

The first thing you need to do is find where in the car the rotten meat was. Since the meat has thawed out it might have rolled somewhere else. Take the meat out, place it in 3 garbage bags and dump it outside in the trash can.

Now you need to add baking soda to the carpet in your car where you see the meat water stain. Pour a generous amount and let it sit for 1 hour on the stain marks.

2. Make Vinegar Cleaning Solution

Along with the baking soda, vinegar helps to remove and absorb odors as well plus it cleans the area. To make the vinegar cleaning solution get a spray bottle and add 1 cup of vinegar and half a cup of water. To help with the smell add half a tablespoon of dawn dish soap. You can vacuum and then spray the area with the vinegar spray you just made after the hour is up.

3. Scrub The Stain

Now it is time to screen the area to loosen all the stains so you can absorb it with a paper towel or a cleaning cloth. Scrub the area in a circular motion so you do not splash the liquid everywhere. Once you have scrubbed each area move on to the next step.

4. Dry The Stain Area

There are two methods you can use to dry the carpet in your car. One method is to stretch an extension cord out to your car and use a blow dryer to try the area. The next method is to roll down the windows and use a paper towel or a cleaning cloth and soak up whatever liquid you can and leave it to dry.

5. Vacuum And Add Essential Oil

Once the area is dry vacuum it again and add a few drops of essential oil to make the car smell even better and hide any food smell that might be there.
