What You Will Need:

Step 1. You will need to make a cleaning mixture in the clean container in which you will dip the microfiber cloth in. To make this mixture, you will need to add half a gallon of warm water to the cleaning container, the 1 cup of baking soda. Pour quarter cups of the laundry detergent into the water and mix it around. If you have a fels naptha soap bar, you can skip the laundry detergent part.

Step 2. You now need to remove the pillow from the pillowcase and wash it differently in the washing machine. Once you have done that, find a clean location like your bathroom sink, and rest the pillow there.

Step 3. Dip the microfiber cloth in the cleaning mixture and rub any area of the pillow that has a large amount of stain on it. Let the microfiber cloth be wet enough to leave just a slight amount of water on the stained spots on the pillow.

Step 4. Let the water stay on the stained area for 5 minutes, then you use the scrub brush or toothbrush and brush the stain out. It might not get everything out, but it will get enough to remove 70-80% of it.

Steps 5. Now that you have cleaned all the Stain areas, you need to spot clean the rest of the pillow. Dip the microfiber cloth in the water and squeeze it out with enough water left in it to spot clean the pillow.

Step 6. Take the cloth and wipe the entire pillow until you feel it is clean enough. If you find areas with a strong odor, you can physically sprinkle some of the baking soda on the area and rub it in, then wipe it off after a few minutes.

Step 7. Your pillow should be clean now and should be able to be used a few minutes afterward. If the pillow feels a little wet, place it in the sun for 1 hour or place it in the dryer for 20 minutes on the lowest heat setting or no heat at all.

Final Thoughts:

Having a dirty pillow can cause a breakout on your face with acne. Sometimes just changing the pillowcase will not work, and you need to physically clean the pillow, but you will want to use the pillow on the same night. Spot clean in the pillow would be the best option to remove dirt, grease and other stuff off the pillow.

Only use this method when you do not have the option to physically wash your pillow, but you should physically wash your pillow every two months to keep it at its optimum cleanliness. Replacing your pillow as well over six months is another great option to always have a clean pillow if you can afford it.
