With the spread of the novel pandemic, hygiene and disinfecting now becomes more critical than ever before. For the past year, we have all been consistently cleaning home surfaces like countertops, tables, light switches, and everything else we humans frequently touch to prevent the spread of the virus.

Now, I’m not saying we didn’t particularly do that before; it’s just, we have all started cleaning a lot more since the pandemic began.

With this in mind, many of us who own Quartz, Marble, or Corian countertops wonder if the amount of cleaning we’re doing will damage them. Or, if we’re doing it right at all?

#1 Use a Milk Dish Soap and Soft Rag to Wipe Your Countertop

First things first, grab a soft cloth and give it a slight dip in a bowl of warm water and soap. Squeeze out the excess water, and gently but firmly wipe down your Quartz or Marble top.

This process can be carried out as often as necessary with the best cleaning product recommended to use on the countertops.

#2 Dried Food on Your Countertop?

If you missed a spot when cleaning your countertop after a meal, don’t worry! It happens. But if you leave it on it for too long it can cause a stain by the grease of the food.

All you need to do is grab a putty knife or an item that definitely won’t scratch your surface, and scrape it off.

Ensure that when scraping, you use gentle movements and don’t apply force.

#3 Got Grease? Use a Degreaser

If you’re going to use a degreasing agent, make sure you purchase one that’s safe to use on Quartz countertops and Marble Countertops.

In addition to this, double-check that any products used don’t contain bleach – this substance is sure to damage them. You can use Rubbing Alcohol to clean them to get rid of any organic or food odors that might be on them.

Like Quartz, learning how to care for your Corian countertop doesn’t have to be challenging, especially with this high-performance surface that elevates any kitchen or bathroom design.

Corian countertops are an affordable alternative to Quartz and many other materials. That is why you will find them in most bathrooms and they resist water stains a lot. It is composed of acrylic and minerals, which mix to form a rigid, nonporous surface.

How to Keep Flies Out Of Garage

You can use most cleaners like vinegar on your Corian countertops; just make sure your choice doesn’t involve anything too abrasive even if it’s a tough Stain on the countertop.

1. Start by Always Cleaning Up Spills

Since Corian countertops are nonporous, your spills aren’t likely to soak in. This makes cleaning your countertop with a damp cloth incredibly easy.

Ensure that you wipe spills as and when they happen and dry the surface immediately after cleaning. If you don’t, you may experience film that builds up over time.

2.  Warm Water is Essential

As the title states, warm water is absolutely essential when cleaning your Corian.

Grab a bowl of warm water with 1 cup of vinegar, and a dishcloth or sponge, and wipe your counters down gently.

Afterward, rinse with clean, warm water without any vinegar in it.

Don’t forget to dry with a clean microfiber cloth!

 3. Use Ammonia-based Cleaners On Your Corian Countertops

If you have a stain that you’re struggling to remove with warm water, you can use an ammonia-based cleaner.

Daily Care Top Tips for Both Corian and Quartz Countertops

  • When cleaning either Quartz or Corian, use a microfiber cloth. This can be a savior on stains and definitely won’t scratch any surfaces.
  • Stay away from anything involving acetone. Solvents like drain cleaners can cause severe damage to both countertops. Damage that you may be unable to undo.
  • Whilst both are heat resistant, it’s still a good idea to protect them from hot pots and pans.
  • Last but not least – scratches. If you do encounter any minor scratches on both your Quartz or Corian, use abrasive pads to remove them. Before doing this, make sure you clean the countertop to remove any film.
